Le dernier jour dans notre apartement

so. the time has come. it's time to leave Avignon.
Paris tomorrow evening, Moscow Thursday afternoon, Vietnam Friday morning. Incredible, 2 sleeps then breakfast in Vietnam. Oh the wonders of these modern times - we can flit from country to country in as much time as it took to go to the next town a hundred years ago. Where can all this technology possibly go?
packed. showered. revision for phonetics (on the way to being done). last exam. lunch with the girls. padlock away our worldly goods. train. sleep. hotel. plane. sleep. russia. plane. sleep. vietnam. hanoi - here we come.

Procrastinator Extra-Ordinaire

So, I am supposed to be revising for exams this week. Instead, I like to waste my time looking for useless, yet amusing things.
This week is going to be insane - moving out of apartment, exams, saying goodbye to friends and somehow end up being in Hanoi at 8a.m on Friday. Wow. (of course, not forgetting the mini trip to Paris)
I am definitely keen to get all the exams out of the way (especially phonetics - labio dental, fricatives, occlusives, who cares?!). Then post-exams, hopefully a lovely meal at 'L'Epicerie' with the girlies, then off to Paris-Moscow-Vietnam.

I don't want to fly. I hate planes. The things one does for the ones they love.

Oh Petit Palais

Tomorrow, I have to give a 20 minute presentation at the Musee du Petit Palais on 'L'Annonciation' by Bartolomeo della Gatta. Beautiful painting, shame about my language skills.
I can't believe that we've been in Avignon for 6 months or so and that now, unfortunately, it's time to leave. This city holds so many memories now - good times and not such good times. I really thought that leaving London would be a huge deal for me as I have never lived in a small town (40'000 people). Obviously I miss certain aspects of London - my friends, international cuisine, shopping and of course the fact that London is simply just London...
Also,I can't stand moving. It was bad enough packing up my life into cardboard boxes - living with a limited choice of outfits is very tough! But... now I have to start doing it again (throwing away little bits of crap I've managed to accumulate during my time here etc.) And then, unpack again in Vienna (if we ever find a house!)only to get settled in again... but I'm not going to complain too much - I will have lived in 2 different countries, experienced two different cultures and then... I get to go back to my comfort zone again. Not too bad really.
Of course, there will also be the much anticipated trip to Vietnam. A quick visit to Switzerland, but not before we go to the Haribo factory and the Pont du Gard this weekend! :-)
