In den letzten Tagen...

Palmenhaus - Schönbrunn

Gasometer A - Semmering

Und warum nicht auf Deutsch?

In den letzten Tagen:

- Star Wars IV, V, VI

Buda and Pest

Working hard = playing hard.

This weekend we took a trip across to Budapest, it is only a 3 hour train ride away.

Fisherman's Bastion - the general Castle Hill area is absolutely beautiful, especially if the weather is nice (which it was). I adored the caped crusader (picture) - he sure cuts a fine shape. The first day was spent exploring various parts of Buda, walking across the Chain Bridge over to Pest - more exploring.
Resident map reader guided us to the best hotel... €35 euros, an apartment complete with balcony.
There are quite a few pictures of food, I am well aware. We went to a rather upmarket "all you can eat" restaurant - €20 (including champagne, wine, juice, water etc). Tonnes of quality food, fixed price - bargain.
I got to play a gypsy's violin! I busked in Heroes' Square for all of one piece (Czardas by Monti as it happens...)

Happy Easter

...Or "Frohe Ostern" as one would say in this part of the world.

Did my spring clean today, the flat looks amazing now - the sun is even shining in and for the first time in ages, those annoying bits of dust which I used to mistake for glitter can't be seen! I cleaned with my glasses on today and I was shocked and appalled to see just how dirty the place really was. Luckily I don't wear my glasses often enough to see dirt.
Steve Buscemi would make my ideal Easter bunny - I absolutely adore his teeth and him as Mr. Pink.

Also, my baking yesterday wasn't an absolute disaster, but the cake did collapse onto itself. I want to try and make macaroons - outstretching myself much? Maybe I'll start by trying to make some cute Chanel petit-fours?
Oh yeah, our coffee machine works now. Everyone should come over and have coffee here from now on - charging €3.50 for a latte is not on!

if one could get presents for easter...

... I'd ask for these items by Vik Prjonsdottir (http://www.vikprjonsdottir.com/).
What more could a girl wish for than a mustachioed balaclava, a "twosome" blanket and a giant spotty playsuit.

Am now back in Vienna where the weather is simply wondrous. Spent the afternoon sitting by the Donau. Lying on dry grass, the sun blaring in your face, wearing enough clothes to cover one's modesty - there's nothing quite like a mild spring afternoon. I am now attempting to bake my first ever CAKE! It seems to have risen an unnatural amount... Also, I have taken up knitting, it's great fun.
